Our School
Founded by internationally trained educator, pianist and author Riko in 2005, Riko Method School of Piano moved to its current location in 2014. In addition to piano lessons and group classes, RMSP offers lessons in guitar, voice, violin and flute as well as specialized instruction for pre- and post-natal mothers. All RMSP instructors complete rigorous training in Riko’s unique and effective curriculum. Our students love our committed, trained instructors and the fact that we empower them to play beautiful music on their own from the very first lesson. We are proud of our high student retention rate and proud to contribute quality music education to our community!
Our Founder
Since her debut in 1987, Riko has appeared in numerous concert series and festivals in Europe, Asia and the United States. Riko studied piano with Walter Hautzig at The Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University and Edson Elias at Ecole Normale de la Musique de Paris. As a music educator, she has over 30 years of piano teaching experience working with beginners, professional recording artists, and everyone in between. In addition to developing and publishing her own unique curriculum, Riko is a hands-on CEO, regularly conducting training sessions for RMSP instructors.
Our Method
Based on Riko’s 30-plus years of experience as a music educator, the Riko Method is a complete first-year piano course and educational philosophy. From the very first lesson, RMSP students learn to approach music critically: analyzing musical material, organizing it intelligently, and executing it with precision. Thanks to this efficient approach, complex music is easily digestible by even the youngest first-year students. The Riko Method is also a comprehensive curriculum. At every lesson, students work on technique, ear-training, music theory and sight-reading. The genius of the Riko Method is how it combines all of these elements in a playful, interactive and engaging lesson style that students love.
